I watched a lot of TV when I was a kid since they were very few options for passing the time away. There were only five channels then and cable television was not introduced yet or maybe we were too poor to afford it. TV was my only solace, my source of entertainment and education. I laughed and learned at an impressionable age sitting in front of the idiot box (a '70s slang for TV) sponging up everything I saw beaming out from the boob tube (another slang for TV).
