Fleet Foxes New Album In 2010

Hugely acclaimed Seattle group Fleet Foxes have confirmed that they will release their second album in 2010.

Fleet Foxes emerged from Seattle with a sound quite different from their North West peers. Gone were the grunge hangovers, although the checked shirts were still on display.

In came close harmony singing and a growing awareness of America's musical heritage. Hewn from lengthy recording sessions Fleet Foxes debut album became something of a shock success, thriving on word of mouth hype.

Going gold on the British charts it hit the Top Ten, and was even nominated for a Brit award. Live, the band are simply transcendental matching their studio recordings for musical perfection and depth of emotion.

Now it seems that Fleet Foxes have begun recording their eagerly awaited follow up. "We're working on stuff every day" singer Robin Peckfold told American magazine Pitchfork.

"We're done touring now until we're done with the next record. So now is when we're writing and starting to record the new album."

Continuing, the songwriter revealed that recording sessions for the new album had taken on a different tack than the first record. "I listened to the first record again, and I was kind of nonplussed" Peckfold explained.

"Some of it I was into, or I could see why we did that at that time - but some of it we would just never do again."

"When I was listening to it (their debut), I felt like I didn't get a chance to breathe. There was a lot of "too upbeat." I guess people think we're already kind of a mellow band, so maybe the next album will be pretty boring to most people."

Fleet Foxes could be set to release their new album in the latter half of next year. "Definitely 2010. There's no way it wouldn't be next year. But probably the early second half, or mid-second half, stocking-stuffer style."
