Former Oasis bass guitarist Andy Bell Joins Liam Gallagher for the Singer's New Band

Former Oasis bass guitarist Andy Bell has joined forces with Liam Gallagher for the singer's new band. As songwriter and guitarist in Ride and then Hurricane #1 Andy Bell had scored several hits in his own right before joining Oasis. Yet the guitarist was a long term fan of the Manchester band, having shared a label with the group. Asked to join the band after the departure of Bonehead in 1999, Andy Bell snapped up the chance. Becoming a firm fixture the guitarist helped to develop the live sound of Oasis, even adding elements of his own songwriting. After Oasis split earlier this year British tabloids reported that Andy Bell had joined Liam Gallagher on holiday in Italy. No doubt planning their next move, it seems that the former Oasis man will join the singer on his new album. In a new interview Liam Gallagher has revealed that Andy Bell and Gem Archer - both formerly of Oasis - will feature in his new group. "It's me, it's Gem, and it's Andy," Gallagher told Sky News. "We've got a new bass player, and he's mega. We've got the old drummer, Chris Sharrock. We've got the old keyboard player (Jay Darlington)." However Liam Gallagher added that the group were struggling to think up memorable band names. "We're sort of going through the mill abut getting new names," he said. "Nothing's sticking." There has been speculation in some quarters that Liam Gallagher could keep the Oasis name. The singer finished by refusing to be drawn on tour arrangements. "We'll see what happens when the record's done. We're concentrating on the music at the moment."
